Miss Mackay's Homecare is devoted to providing essential in-home assistance for elderly individuals, encompassing services like gardening, errands, shopping, maintenance and housework. With a strong local presence in Central Otago and inspired by the legacy of Miss Margaret Mackay, we strive to enrich lives while ensuring independence and comfort for our senior citizens.
A Little History . . .
Miss Margaret Mackay or Aunty Marl as we knew her is our inspiration. She was one of the first women admitted to the bar in New Zealand in 1929 and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those she served. Particularly servicemen & women returning from the war she helped them into businesses, farms, homes and with their families. And when things didn't go well she was there to ensure they received the care they needed. We fondly remember visiting her during school holidays at her home "Cona Linn", swimming in the nearby Wainakarua River and especially her famous (in North Otago) fruitcake washed down with her deliciously tart lemon squash. She lived independently well into her 90's enjoying her own home & garden. Her enduring legacy is her desire for independence equalled only by the sense of care embedded deeply within us.
